About

Little bit about me.

I am originally from Istanbul, Turkey. I completed my K-16 education in Istanbul with a Physics and Astronomy B.Sc. degree from Boğaziçi University. During my time there, I gained research experience in multiple subfields, working primarily with Prof. Levent Kurnaz. I also had a chance to do research at CERN, in Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector experiment for 4 months, which was a great experience for me to be part of such an enormous scientific endeavour. Later, I worked as a Teaching Scholar in the physics department at Dogus University overseeing physics lab education. In 2015, I moved to the U.S. to start my Ph.D. studies in Physics Education Research, working with Prof. Chandralekha Singh. I completed my Ph.D. in 2019 with a research focus on diversity and equity issues in physics classrooms. After graduation, I was an Active Learning Initiative (ALI) postdoctoral researcher at Cornell University, working with Prof. Natasha Holmes. Later on, I took a position at Harvard University working as an Assistant Director of STEM pedagogy at Derek Bok Teaching and Learning Center. Before joining the University of Liverpool as a Lecturer where I am currently at, I worked as an Assistant Professor in RIT Physics department.
