Zhiyan “Z” Wu is a Professor of Strategy at Zhejiang University. His research explores the intersection of corporate governance and sustainability, with a particular focus on causal inference in research design. His work has appeared in top journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Management, Management Science, Organization Science, and Strategic Management Journal. His research has received the EBS Best Paper Award, been featured in major European news outlets, and highlighted on INFORMS’s Resoundingly Human podcast.
Z is also a dedicated reviewer and received the Best Reviewer Award from the Journal of Management.
In the classroom, he has been teaching across all levels — BSc, MSc, MBA/EMBA, and PhD — at Zhejiang University and Erasmus University. At Erasmus University, his innovative teaching earned him the Best New Course of the Year Award in Strategy and Entrepreneurship, and he was nominated by students for the RSM Innovative Teaching Award.
Outside academia, Z enjoys gardening, applying the same patience and care to cultivating plants as he does to nurturing ideas in his research and teaching.
