I developed leadership by attending this professional conference which involved meeting and training with national STEM teachers. The overall experience was positive. I learned a variety of strategies that I could implement in the classroom. However, the true impact was getting a refresh/reset in terms of a mindset shift, a reminder of why I became a teacher in the first place. I became a teacher in order to positively impact students and make them scientifically literate.

During this fall semester, I have met with the other 10th grade chemistry teachers on a regular basis. During these trainings we: discuss common issues, problem-solve, train each other on new software and lab activities, and enhance our teaching strategies. Additionally, we also look at our data and dive-in to determine why some concepts translated well to the students and why some did not. This group training and reflection is essential to the success of our teachers.
