Zakaria Shams Siam is a PhD student and Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant in the Department of Computer Science at the University at Albany, State University of New York, Albany, NY. His PhD research focuses on machine learning and optimization.
Mr. Zakaria earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Computer Science and Engineering and a minor in Mathematics from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North South University, Bangladesh. He was a full-time Lecturer (on leave) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Presidency University, Bangladesh.
His research interests span machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, optimization, and bandit algorithms. He has authored several international journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers.
Mr. Zakaria has served as a researcher with the Qatar University Machine Learning Group and has also worked as a research and teaching assistant in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as well as the Department of Mathematics and Physics at North South University, Bangladesh.
