Scouting Adventures for Boys and Girls
The Zoo Troop is very active in the Sacramento region. We plan and participate in a number of outdoor outings and adventures every year and there is always something to do! We strive to provide fun adventures for boys and girls, teaching them valuable leadership and life skills while instilling in them a love of the outdoors.
Our Chartered Organization is the Sacramento Zoo and we are in the Three Rivers District, which is part of the Golden Empire Council.
Some fun activities the Troop has done throughout the years include:
•Overnight camping trips at Camp Buffalo Bill, Emerald Bay, Henry Coe State Park, Swamp Base, Klondike, and many more which resulted in more than a thousand of nights camped since our inception.
•Great outdoor activities including hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, mountain biking, paddle sports, fishing, and clamming.
•Helped our community by marching in support of veterans or placing flags on graves in remembrance, cleaning up and beautifying local parks, and collecting and donating food to area food banks - resulting in hundreds of hours of community service.
•Camping, first aid, knots, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math), and other skills learned resulting in various ranks and merit badges.
