Mood Forest Workaway, Bhopal - 2.2.26 - 8.2.26 -
We spent a week in a food forest therapy. Luis was also a volunteer and Kapil was taking part of the program. We spent the days picking peas from the land, weeding, cooking with Neelima (she was leading the program), scaring off monkeys and eating some lovely nourishing food and playing a new favourite card game called 'Cabo'.
There was a hiccup in the communication with our host (he wasn't even there!) but we enjoyed our time at this project non the less as we met great people and ended up going to Bhopal city together for an incredible food excursion!
I was in charge of making daily chutneys! and every time it was delish!
Tried some new fruits/seeds on a walk in the forest. Left is 'ber' (Indian jujubee I think), this is a fruit that can be green and sour, yellow and still sour but more pleasant, and red and sweet tasting like stewed apple.
Right is a seed known as triphala, the outside is used to treat tummy pain as a powder, but crack it open and eat the seed for a snack that tastes like an almond.
Here's a list of all the birds we saw. It was incredible! My favourites were the Indian roller and the Asian green bee-eater and the Indian white-eye.

Ahhhhh! This was such a amazing, intense falvour filled day. Kapil planned food places for us all to visit and it was incredbile! Our body's were in shock and very full by the end of the day. We of course took a break at a lovely coffee shop to play some CABO!
Indore, 9.2.26 - 11.2.26
It's another blog about food.
Indore is known for it's incredible street food in India, this is the soul purpose we decided to visit (and it was quite a convenient connection).
The food did not disappoint. We went to Sarafa Bazar, a jewellery market by day but a street food bonanza by night. We arrived at 9:30pm to see each vendor setting up their yum. Our friend Kapil, who we met at the Mood Forest, gave us a mega list of foods we had to try.
Joe's highlights:
Bhutte Ka Kees - a corn and coconut street snack with coriander and spices. It's sweet, spicy, savoury. It was even better than I expected!
Gulab Jamun - it was just the tastiest one ever!
Zoe's highlights:
Kala Jamun - a black version of gulab jamun. We found it nuttier in flavour.
Bhutte Ka Kees
Now we have a 26hr bus to Goa to look forward to 🥹
