2025 | The Symposium explores the evolving roles of materials design in generating knowledge through practice. By bringing together international researchers working in this scope, we aim to provide a holistic overview of this evolving field, to discuss the future roles of materialdesign in the design study.
2025 | Learning through Materials: Transforming Design Education in the 21st Century is a newly published article exploring evolving approaches to materials and design education.
2023 - 25 | At the beginning of 2023, the state of Hesse acquired the Höchst Porcelain Manufactory, founded in 1746, in order to preserve this important cultural heritage. As a staff member at the Institute for Materialdesign IMD, I became involved in relocating the institute to the site and helping establish a new centre for research and teaching. Since then, a range of artistic and pedagogical research activities have been initiated there.
2024 | This project explores entangled textile structures inspired by fungi, lichen, and microscopic worlds. Through repetitive assemblies, soft materials generate volume, rhythm, and interconnected forms that reflect coexistence, dependency, and ecological networks.
2023 | In collaboration with ISOE, we delve into the relationship between humans and insects, culminating in an interactive installation at the heart of Frankfurt am Main: The Insect Embassy.
2023 | Can the know-how of materials serve as a foundation for designers to address the sustainable issues we encounter nowadays? How can material knowledge be transformed into meaningful sustainable design activities? This research explores the sustainable aspect of design through the lens of material studies and benefits the sustainable education in Art and Design Universities.
2023 | This recent publication presents the outcomes of an experimental and transdisciplinary approach in materials design. It showcases new design concepts that place materials at the forefront of the design process.
2022 | Future Matters is a project, that proposed a speculative, material-centric design approach to engage discussions towards post-Anthropocene scenarios by rethinking the entanglement of human and non-human actors.
2022 | Interactive installation In cooperation with Mazda Europe.
2022 | MaDe is a project co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of The European Union, aims at boosting talents towards circular economies across Europe partnering with design and cultural institutions, Elisava, Ma-tt-er and Politecnico di Milano.
2022 | Material Insights is a continuously updating database intended for designers, with the aim of sharing fresh insights on material design. It is the Appendix of my PhD research Meaning-Driven Material Education in Design.
2018-2022 | A Doctoral Study on Material Education in Design: Exploring the Significance of Materials in the Pedagogy of Design
2021 | To understand the importance of materials in design pedagogy, I investigated design universities in the top 50 of QS rankings - around the world.
