WHO WE ARE
Zion Baptist Church was founded in 1894. Faith is more than what happens on Sunday mornings. Its part of who we are, inside and out. At Zion Baptist Church we believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible Word of God; therefore we are committed to preaching, teaching, studying, and living God's Word.
Nestled on a quiet street Ardmore, Zion's congregation is family oriented and includes people of all ages from elementary to centenarian. Our ministry includes serving the hungry and homeless here and overseas in Africa and Haiti. Zion Baptist Church also houses boys and girls scouting troops and tutoring -- believing it is important to have a positive influence on young people during their formative years.

Growing your faith in the Lord is rewarding when you have a faithful shepherd. Our congregation has been blessed to be led by Pastor Pollard for 54 years! Come witness one of his uplifting and powerful sermons.
a graduate of the Philadelphia College of the Bible, Pastor Pollard earned a master of divinity degree from Eastern Seminary and completed his doctoral studies at Kensington University. He worked as Youth Minister and Assistant Pastor before being named as our Senior Pastor on May 25, 1971.
Pastor Pollard has taught at the Philadelphia College of the Bible, New York Seminary, Eastern University, Lincoln University, Geneva College and the United Lutheran Seminary. Pastor Pollard has served on the General Board and Board of International Ministries with the American Baptist Churches USA, where he is currently Chair of the Commission on the Ministry.

In addition to celebrating fifty years of service at Zion, Pastor Pollard and his wife, Reverend Virginia O. Pollard also celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on May 15, 2021. They are proud parents and grandparents to three sons James, Jr. (Simone), Joseph (Vernessa), and John, and seven grandchildren.
