In Fall 2024, Math CEO started a data science portfolio project initiative for high schoolers who were interested in math, programming, and data science. The objective was to guide them through a project that collected and analyzed data to asnwer a specific question while learning about bias and other pitfalls of data science. This portfolio is one I made in parallel to the students and serves as an example project to inspire and educate.
Before we get into modeling, it’s important to know that our models are made by humans, and we can introduce bias into our models.
This spreadsheet was a project done with the high school branch of Math CEO. We asked the question "where do you want to live?" and used data from Data Commons to answer the question in Google sheets. This version has some editable fields you can play with, including the dropdown and highlighted cells on the first tab. Have fun!
