Our goal of writing-----Precise and concise with logic
We are practicing with two writing styles:
Stage 1: Research summary writing:
primary goal: enhance writing style for precise and concise writing
Key points to cover:
4-5 sentence summary of paper (max 6)
What is the knowledge gap being addressed?
What was their strategy to address it?
What is the most valuable selling point?
What is the major pitfall?
What are future directions to take with the paper?
Each sentence can't be >3 lines
Stage 2: Pseudo proposal writing:
Primary goal: Strong logic, mechanism development, novelty, rigorous approach--with precise and concise writing style.
Key points to cover:
1 pager (max)
format: significance/background---preliminary data/hypothesis----innovation---approach (specific Aims)---pitfall/alternative
Focus:
** Strong/convincing significance--knowledge gap
** Strong rationale for meaningful hypothesis
** selling points---innovation
** Feasible/effective hypothesis testing approach (specific aims)
*** reasonable consideration for pitfalls/alternative
