High strength and ductile ferritic martensitic T91 steel
Tailoring carbon partitioning is critical to improve the strength and ductility of martensitic steels. In this work, a modified quenching partitioning method was used to introduce a new phase (bainitic ferrite) in T91 steel. Strengthened with high density transition carbides and fine martensite, the T91 steel can reach 1.4 GPa yield strength and 6% uniform elongation.
