The project Lixo Zero/Zero Waste became part of our lives in 2019, when we were in the second grade. Our teachers introduced us to new methods of garbage separation and reuse in order to facilitate the work of waste collectors in our city and to avoid excessive trash production. Firstly, our class received a sort of a cabinet (móvel), which had drawers in it, each one destined for a different type of material. And we learned how to clean correctly each product for recycling. Furthermore, we had the chance to visit Catavida, which is a social and economic program in Novo Hamburgo - RS that collects solid waste. Therefore, this project had a huge impact on our lives, because we created a different relationship towards waste and nature, while meeting new people that taught us important life lessons.
