Communicating by email is not the only option!
Some time ago, a US-based ZLA member initiated an monthly opportunity to meet via zoom. We are continuing to meet every 2nd Saturday at 2pm Eastern Time. Topics are sometimes announced in advance, but often just brought up by those attending the meeting. ZLA members from North America, Europe, and Africa have joined in.
Here are some examples of things we have discussed so far (in some cases, more than once!):
The responsibilities of Zen teachers and students
Sangha ethics and grievance policies
Zen practice in turbulent political times
How do we make our sangha "findable" by people who may wish to join us?
The variety of roles open to lay practitioners
What accommodations can and should be offered to make Zen spaces accessible to those who want to practice (including neurodiverse and online participants)?
Adverse physical and mental effects of meditation.
ZLA members receive an invitation and a zoom link each month, and can find brief notes from these meetings in our stored Conversations or in the Members-Only Documents folder. All members are welcome to join in!
Would you like to meet at a time that is more convenient for your time zone? Or converse in a different language? Or on a specific topic? Feel free to post to the Google Group email list to see if others would like to join you! The ZLA administrator (zenlearnersassoc@gmail.com) can provide you with a zoom link, if needed (as long as the time slot is open).
