This section summarizes my work experience. A majority of my internships were in the public sector. These internships gave me exposure to the professional environment and the timeline and logistics of large projects. I learned how to contribute to a positive and productive work-place and communicate effectively with others. I also got the chance to work closely with engineers and project managers. At the bottom of this section, I added my early work experience in the food industry. Though these jobs are not relevant to my specific career path, I developed great customer service skills, work ethic, and humility working in the food industry.
October 2020 - Present
At the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) I analyzed large datasets of EV charging port installation programs in Southern California. Using tools like Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and HTML, I created an interactive dashboard for the 50+ programs in the division. The dashboard was able to filter through the data to show visualizations of the number of ports energized in each sector/utility agency, progress for each program, timeline of port installation, and other useful information. I learned a lot about various EV charging infrastructure (Level 1, Level 2, DCFC) and the policies in California that are pushing toward Electric Vehicles and related infrastructure.
June 2020 - August 2020
I participated in a 7 week virtual internship at East Bay Municipal Utility District. I was co-lead of a project in which I researched and developed a workforce report for the outreach and recruitment of diverse and qualified Electrical Engineers. Throughout my research I met with several Electrical Engineers at EBMUD and other industries and gained an understanding of the professional field of Electrical Engineering. I also reviewed the challenges with hiring and developed a strategy for creating a pipeline of diverse and qualified Electrical Engineers. This internship was during the Covid-19 pandemic, so I gained experience with virtual collaboration tools and remote work.
November 2019 - March 2020
At the Division of Traffic Operations, I assist engineers with testing, technology searches, and documentation of electronic hardware, software, networks, communications, and other electronic and electrical systems. August 2019 - December 2020
I served as an Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Tutor for the Engineering Department at Sacramento State. As an Engineering tutor, I used knowledge of Physics, Math, Chemistry, and Engineering to assist students with their coursework and developed the ability to break down complex concepts into simple terms and communicate them effectively. I was able to deepen my own understanding of coursework and had several repeat customers. I was also promoted to lead tutor for 2 semesters and assisted the department by creating tutoring schedules and managing communication between the 12 tutors in the department.
July 2019 - November 2019
I assisted the department by creating spreadsheet data bases for equipment, breaking down maintenance projects into milestones and deliverables, and conducting research on various transportation topics including Battery and Hydrogen Fuel-Cell technology. I also visited several rail maintenance and manufacturing sites and got an in depth understanding of public transportation.
