My philosophy for leadership is to lead by example and encourage teammates by creating a common goal. Throughout my academics, I have made an effort to take on many leadership roles. These leadership roles strengthened my communication skills and taught me how to be organized and decisive. I also became a better team member by taking on leadership roles because I have learned what is expected from me. Here are some important leadership roles I have taken:
As president of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, I delegated tasks to officers and ensured success of Industry Events, Company Tours, Projects, and Workshops. I made formal presentations and presented in front large groups of students and professors. I also built many industry contacts and successfully hosted an Evening with Industry event at with 8 different companies. One of my key achievements as President was collaborating with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Computer Technology Club, and Association for Computing Machinery to manage the budget and planning of a collaborative life-size robotic dog project.
As Vice President of communications for the Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) Joint Council at Sacramento State, I manage the communication and collaboration of over 40 Engineering and Computer Science clubs on campus by creating joint event calendars and maintaining communication with club presidents. I have increased collaboration between Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and Computer Engineering clubs by managing group chats and attending general meetings. I have also helped plan and set up several events including the ECS Barbeque and Engineering Expo.
As Industry Liaison for the Power and Energy Society at Sacramento State, I have made successful connections with local companies. I connected and help plan information sessions with CAISO, SMUD, PG&E, and SDG&E. I also take part in advertising events to students by posting up flyers and sending emails. One of my key achievements for the Power & Energy Society helping to start study group to help students prepare for their Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
