With recent considerations for the respiratory-issues associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is becoming critical that school systems bring a greater level of attention to issues of substance abuse in K-12 systems. This article reflects on the current state of substance abuse attention programs in the United States, as well as recommendable intervention programs and counseling techniques for school support staff.
"Most students and parents recognize it as the small USB-shaped device that produces fruit-flavored smoke. Very few seem to grasp the long-term consequences of vaping habits. That being said, those consequences might already be here." This article serves as an in-depth look and commentary on the increasingly pressing issue of vaping trends in school systems when faced with the consequences of the recent health pandemic.
