My name is Zachary Parker (he/him/his) and I am a fourth year Ph.D. student in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at UNC Greensboro studying under Dan Yasaki. I will be on the job market starting fall 2026.
My mathematical interests are in number theory and geometry. In particular, my current project uses a certain reduction theory to compute spaces of modular forms, or more accurately, the cohomology of linear groups over imaginary quadratic fields. The goal is to connect these computations to Galois representations of algebraic number fields and reveal arithmetic information. See my Research tab for more.
My interests also include the scholarship of teaching and learning which aims to advance teaching practice in postsecondary education. I believe in the accessibility and equity of mathematics for all. Specifically, I subscribe to Federico Ardila-Mantilla's axioms. I am equally driven by my goals to become a better educator as I am by my own scholarship.
Outside of school, I am usually taking a meandering walk or locking in on a video game, often while sipping a hoppy IPA or crispy lager. I spend a lot of time watching and thinking about basketball, especially my hometown Phoenix Suns.

UNC Greensboro is located on Native land previously tended to and claimed, at various times, by the Catawba, Keyauwee, Saura, and Saponi Nations. It is important to acknowledge these Peoples and their care for the land in the past, present, and future.
