Have you ever handed a young child a new tool and tried to teach them to use it? The first ten minutes or so (often longer!) are usually them playing around with it and rarely in the way it was intended to be used. Why? That's how humans explore our environment and develop new skills!
When I work with other educators, finding ways to center learning experiences around play and exploration are key. While each age range has its own unique, targeted strategies to be utilized, exploration and play are at the heart of how humans of all ages learn.
What does it look like to re-center our learning and skill development around exploration and play?
