LANGUAGE

BEGINNER

This class is to target a brand new (or limitedly experienced) learners. This group will first learn, with accelerated pace, YR 1-4 materials before moving into the introduction of YR 5-6. The lessons will mainly focus on basic vocabulary and simple Hiragana, but it will include some grammar and speaking towards the end of the program. 

INTERMEDIATE

Congratulation! Either you have passed the placement test OR brought in a very strong Japanese record from your previous school, you are now successfully placed in this challenging group. Like Beginners, this group will also spend some time for reviewing before tackling YR 7-8 materials. This group will have not only vocabulary, but also grammar and pair speaking assessment. 

1) While it is clearly important that each student will be pushed to master the year level curriculum, it is equally essential that each student will enjoy learning Japanese language and culture. Japanese is a very very foreign subject for many English speakers, and we hope to have many students continue in high school and beyond. 

2) All 4 language skills; reading, writing, listening and speaking, will be taught in the class. However, the top priority will be put on speaking since that will be the most use in our real life. (Other skills will be the foundations for speaking skills).
