Issues that should be addressed with folds:
I noticed that in some areas, the folds were looking a bit odd. This was mainly because the fabric simulation in Marvelous Designer had a really low thickness, which caused the fabric to stack on itself unnaturally. These kinds of issues, along with the overall fabric detailing, should be looked into. Below, you can see how I fixed it. I basically smoothed it out, and I think it looks much better now.
Final Clothing Result:
This is how the final clothes look after adding thickness, and I’m really happy with the outcome. I feel like I achieved the folds I was aiming for, and overall, the clothing’s folds look great. From here onwards, I’ll be adding tertiary details like straps, zippers, and buttons for the shirt, and then I’ll move on to working on the shoes.
Tertiary Details Added:
At this point, I’ve finished adding the tertiary details like the straps, zipper, and buttons for the shirt. I would’ve liked to include more straps, but considering the Tri budget and time constraints, I decided to stop here. I still think it looks good overall, but with more time, I definitely could’ve pushed it further. Since I can’t afford to lose any more time, I need to move on from the sculpting phase as quickly as possible. I’m starting to feel the pressure, especially since everyone else has already begun retopology and I’m falling behind.
Final Sculpt Results:
I’ve finally finished sculpting and am ready to start retopologizing my character. The next step is to decimate the meshes so I can import them into Blender and begin the retopology process.
Using FiberShop for Hair Card Textures:
For this block, I also had to learn how to use FiberShop to create hair card textures. It was my first time using the software, but I found it pretty easy to pick up. The official tutorials on their website covered everything clearly, and I had no issues generating the hair cards for my character.
However, since I was using the free version of FiberShop, the output quality was quite low—something I didn’t realize until I started placing the hair cards onto the mesh. Thankfully, I managed to fix the issue by getting a temporary full-access account, which allowed me to export the hair textures in higher quality. After that, everything worked out fine.
I also reached out to FiberShop regarding their free access policy for students. They responded saying that while they don’t provide individual student licenses, they do offer it for free to schools. I really hope my university can get a license soon, because I genuinely believe FiberShop is a solid tool that can significantly speed up the hair creation workflow.
Learning Xgen:
My biggest enemy for this block was XGEN and I was about to go crazy using it sometimes it was a completely new software and tool which xgen seems to be a really laggy and buggy tool which was intially hard to grasp but slowly but surely i did my best to understand I looked up tutorial that could help.
