My life outside of academics:

Musicals

I love watching musicals and singing theater songs (only in the car and shower)

Watched Broadway productions: Les Miserables, Chicago, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Aladdin, Kinky Boots, Frozen, Mean Girls, Dear Evan Hansen, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (play), Waitress, Six the Musical, Moulin Rouge!, Some Like It Hot, Funny Girl, Parade, Back to the Future, Sweeny Todd, Water for the Elephants, Shucked, Suffs the Musical, etc....

Stanford Taiko

I played Taiko (Japanese drums) for 6 years during middle and high school in Japan, and now I’m playing again with Stanford Taiko!

Please check out our website and YouTube channel! Our next Spring Concert is May 3rd, 2025—Tickets are available here.

Stanford students: auditions are next fall! Come audition—no prior experience required or expected (I’m the rare case). For everyone else, we’ll have open workshops in the fall and winter—anyone can try Taiko! Details will be posted closer to the dates so stay tuned!

TEDx

Amy Cuddy's "Your body language may shape who you are" was a life-changing talk for me. Since I watched her talk for the first time, I got into TED talks, and eventually I decided to be on the TEDx board for 2.5 yrs to organize TEDxMiddlebury. I invited Lida Winfield, who was my dance professor, and here is her talk (She danced throughout her talk!!! I guarantee this is an amazing talk, so please take a look at it!)

My home(s)

I consider Nara and Kyoto as my home, but I lived in Middlebury and Taiwan for a substantial amount of time, so all are listed as my homes.

My favorite Taiwanese Food

Since I was 11 years old, I have been immersing myself in Taiwanese culture--- I watched so many TV shows, listened to songs, self-taught traditional characters, etc. I had also been traveling there with my family almost annually before I came to the States!

THE BEST & AFFORDABLE & LARGEST-PORTION Mango Shaved Ice in Taiwan, as far as I know. I shared this one with 2 other people and It's about $3. I know. it's INSANE.
