Yujie Gu

Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering

Dr. Yujie Gu received his Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2008. After graduation, he held several research positions in China, Canada, Israel and the United States. Currently, he works at Aptiv Advanced Engineering Center as a Senior Radar Scientist focusing on research and development of advanced automotive radar system. His main research experience is statistical and array signal processing, including robust adaptive beamforming, information-theoretic compressive sensing, spatial spectrum estimation, and performance bound analysis, with applications to radar, wireless communications, and radio astronomy imaging. Up to now, his most significant contribution to the Signal Processing Society is on solving the signal self-nulling in adaptive beamforming. Microsoft Academic ranked Dr. Gu the most impactful author in the topic of Adaptive beamformer over the past 15 years. Stanford University ranked Dr. Gu among the World's Top 2% Scientists for the four consecutive years from 2020 to 2023.

Dr. Gu is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a member of the European Association For Signal Processing (EURASIP). He is an elected member of the IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel (SAM) Technical Committee, and an elected member of the Signal Processing Theory and Methods (SPTM) Technical Committee. Dr. Gu currently serves as a Subject Editor-in-Chief for Electronics Letters and Associate Editor for Signal Processing. He was the Lead Guest Editor of the Digital Signal Processing Special Issue on Source Localization in Massive MIMO published in 2019. Dr. Gu served as a Special Sessions Co-Chair of the 2020 IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Workshop. He has also served as a technical program committee member for a number of international conferences including IEEE ICASSP and IEEE RadarConf. Dr. Gu is the recipient of the 2019 IET Communications Premium Award. Dr. Gu is the corresponding author of a paper that received the 2021 IEEE SPS Young Author Best Paper Award, and is also the coauthor of a paper received 2023 Excellent Scientific Papers from China Association for Science and Technology.
