About Yuhei Inoue
Professor of Sport Management - Manchester Metropolitan University
Biography
Dr. Yuhei Inoue is a Professor of Sport Management in the Department of People & Performance at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School. His research focuses on the management of sport (e.g., sport organizations, events, programs) for positive social impacts, with particular emphasis on health and well-being outcomes. He conducts research in such settings as professional sport games, international/elite sport events, participatory and charity-affiliated sport events, professional sport organizations' socially responsible initiatives, community-based sport programs, and fitness clubs and services.
To date, Dr. Inoue has published over 55 articles in leading academic journals in sport management and related disciplines, including Journal of Sport Management, Sport Management Review, European Sport Management Quarterly, Tourism Management, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, WIREs Climate Change, and Social Science & Medicine. In addition, his research has been funded by a range of national and international organizations and agencies, such as the IOC Olympic Studies Centre, Rugby Football League, GreaterSport (Manchester, UK), National Social Science Fund of China, and the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
Dr. Inoue is an Associate Editor for Sport Management Review, a Section Editor for Routledge Resources Online: Sports Studies (Sport, Health and Wellbeing section), and an Editorial Board Member for Journal of Sport Management and Frontiers in Sports and Active Living. He also served as a co-guest editor for a special issue of Journal of Sport Management, entitled “Transformative Sport Service Research: Linking Sport Services with Well-being.” Given his contribution to the academic field of sport management, in 2016, he received Research Fellow status from the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), the world's largest professional association for sport management.
Dr. Inoue obtained his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Temple University (USA), his M.A. in Sport and Exercise Management from The Ohio State University (USA), and his B.A. in Sociology from the University of Tsukuba (Japan). Before starting his doctoral study, he worked for NFL Japan, a subsidiary of the National Football League (NFL), and engaged in the promotion of the league and American football in Japan.
