George Box once said "All models are wrong, but some are useful." We the Engineers should be particularly concerned with the usefulness of our models.

Dr. Yu Ding is the Anderson-Interface Chair and Professor in the H. Milton School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech. Prior to joining Georgia Tech in 2023, he was the Mike and Sugar Barnes Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University.  Dr. Ding's research is in the area of data and quality science.  Dr. Ding is the author of the CRC Press book, Data Science for Wind Energy, and a co-author of the Springer Nature book, Data Science for Nano Image AnalysisHis research work is recognized by the 2018 Texas A&M Engineering Research Impact Award, 2019 IISE Technical Innovation Award, 2020 AFS Texas A&M University-Level Distinguished Achievement Award in Research, and 2022 INFORMS Impact Prize.
