Below you'll find a written and visual guide on designing the most legible and impactful ads possible. These guidelines apply to all board sizes and both static and video ads.
NOTE: The maximum duration of both static and video ads is 16 sec. Video ads can include static "slides" or be comprised of filmed and edited video content.
Our boards are typically placed 50+ yards from the audience, so it's important to follow a few basic guidelines to ensure your message is being seen clearly and can be easily read.
🚩 AVOID small text 🚩
Small text is effectively illegible on our boards when viewed from a distance (about 200 feet at most parks). Stick with large, high contrast text to make absolutely sure your message pops and can be easily read.
🚩 AVOID placing text over background images 🚩
Images behind text tend to make that text much harder to read, even if the text has a stroke applied. Choose solid colors or gradient backgrounds for placing behind text.
🚩 AVOID using too many words 🚩
If you have a lot of information to convey by text, we suggest creating "slides" and sequencing them into a video slideshow, or dividing your message into multiple static ads that can rotate independently.
Limit words per ad/slide to between 5 and 10. Cramming too many words into a single ad/slide means reducing the size of the text, which makes it harder to read from a distance.
🚩 AVOID QR codes 🚩
We discourage the use of QR codes entirely on our 8x2 and 8x4 boards. We still discourage their use on our 10x6 boards, as they can be difficult to scan from a distance through fencing. If you must use one on a 10x6, we suggest it covers the canvas from top to bottom on the last slide/portion of a 16 second video ad and remains on-screen for at least 8 seconds.
