How to I become a member?

• • • Contact the membership committee at ypycmemberinfo@gmail.com or talk to any member

    • Attend a social event as our guest

    • Obtain a sponsor from an existing member

    • Fill out and submit a membership application

    • The YPYC Board will review the application to approve membership

Do I need to own a boat to join?

No

What are the initiation fees and annual dues?

• • • There is no initiation fee. 

      • Annual Fees 

        • Family: $625 per family

        • Single:  $425

        • Out of State:  $100

These are prorated for the first year.

Facilities & Amenities

What facilities / benefits are included?

• • Opportunities to get on the water:  

    • Need crew?  We have members that are available to add hands to your next race.

    • No sailboat?  We have skippers looking for extra hands, and really any excuse to get on the water.

    • The committee boat, Dwindle Down, sets up each race.  Crew and passengers are always welcome.   Being out on the water doesn't always mean sailing.

    • Kayaking:  Our 6 kayak rack holds kayaks for anyone interested in exploring Myer Creek and the Corrotoman up close.  

  • Club House use for member events and special occasions.  More information on the Club House Page

  • Bocce ball, Horseshoes and Cornhole for outdoor fun and games

  • Kitchen and grill facilities.

  • Dock for temporary dockage, (including overnight),  or to come to an event via water.  Our dock can hold 3 boats, has 4.5' MLW on the outside and does not have water or electricity.

Are there reciprocal privileges with other clubs?

• • Yes, we have reciprocity benefits through Yacht Clubs of America

Boating Activities

Do you host races, cruises, regattas?

• • Yes, all of the above.  You can find our schedule on the Sailing page

Social & Community

What kind of social events do you host?

• • We have Opening Day, Forth of July and monthly themed dinners 

  • Every Wednesday we have a potluck at the clubhouse starting at 5 pm, although some come earlier at 4 pm for games and puzzles

  • We also have occasional special events such as Kentucky Derby and Superbowl parties.

What other activities are available?

• • Land Cruises / day trips to local restaurants, museums, events

Are there volunteer opportunities?

• • Yes, we have volunteer opportunities for membership, gardens, event committees and in support of our racing program.  We also co-sponsor the Turkey Shoot Regatta which benefits local charities

What is the general culture - formal or casual?

• • We are a casual, welcoming group.  

Location and Practical Details

Where are you located?  Are you at Yankee Point Marina? 

• • We are located at 734 Oak Hill Road, just a 1/2 mile from the marina.  By boat, the Club is on  Myer Creek just past the Marina (we can see it from our dock.)
