All Youth On the Same Page
Fall 2021
The mission of the All Youth on the Same Page Project was "creating equitble literary access and resources for youth". The idea was born out of our Fall 2021 Board Member's understanding of the disparity between reading levels of children of differing means; and issue only exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Comprised of three prongs, the project included the Little Caterpillar Literacy Workshop, Hooked on Books Drive, and the All Youth on the Same Page Website which Is a living resource we encourage you to use!
On website parents, teachers, and students will be able to find resources such as online literacy-geared learning games, eBooks, audiobooks, reading videos, literacy support articles, a catalog of information about locating your nearest library, and an interview with an experienced literacy coach.
Through our Hooked on Books Book Drive, we provided reading resources to children by accepting donations across highschools such as Inderkum High. We collected books to be handed out to students at Oak Ridge and donated to the library's catalogue.
Our Little Caterpillar Workshop, we saught sure that students in the Sacramento area are led by role models who encourage literacy through fun workshops held during the school-day. Youth Voices Sacramento partnered with 1st grade classes at Oak Ridge Elementary School to deliver a 4 hour, fun activity based workshop!
