On the first day, We were volunteering in Miracles In Motion. The non-profit organization helps disabled kids. We helped clean the barn and groomed the horse. The staff in MIM gives brief info about the program. It teaches the disabled kids to interact with the horse and ride with them. The program is beneficial. Usually, these kids may lose connection with the outside world and feel bored or frustrated by staying home. However, this program provides an excellent opportunity for these kids to spend time outside, play with horses, and spend time in nature. It is good for them and makes them happy by letting them interact with aminals. It is a way to show care and love for them.
On day three, we visited some street graffiti art in Iowa City. From these works, we can see that graffiti artists create without any restrictions and just drew the paints that truly reflects their own thoughts with their preferences to convey their emotions. Graffiti not only beautifies cities, but also adds a splash of color to the empty streets. The graffiti is naturally and cleverly integrated into the surrounding landscape. They use painting to illustrate their love towards Iowa City, and utilize their creativity to create an different image of Iowa but the same spirit.
We did some leadership activities to get close to each other before the sping trip like the gravity stick but the time that we actually know each other was we hung out as a group when we did the bowling and the time played the game called we are not strangers after it. During these activities, we share more ideas about each others' personal opinions, different attitudes, and perspectives about the cultures. This program gives us a chance to know more people and communicate with people that have different values.
