Jose Luis Fernández-Pacheco Sáez is a Social Worker, a Sociologist, a professor at the University of Extremadura, and a technician in Local Community Development projects linked to the Social and Solidarity Economy and Sustainability. Doctor in Sociology, Master in Research Methodology in Social Sciences: Innovation and Applications, and a Diploma in Social Work from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has participated as an evaluator in different projects of Local Community Development and Public Policies, as well as in projects of International Cooperation for Development (Morocco, Senegal, and South Africa). He participated as an author in Spanish Youth Report 2012 and he is nowadays co-coordinating the European Erasmus + project "ESCUTA" (2020-2023) to promote the acquisition of Socio-Emotional Learning competencies among university students in order to encourage citizen participation and social entrepreneurship from the principles of Circular Economy, Social and Solidarity Economy, as well as supporting the implementation of Community Development projects for the Island of São Miguel (Azores - Portugal) and Cáceres (Extremadura - Spain).
Fernando Diogo holds a PhD in Sociology and is an Associate Professor (with tenure) at the University of the Azores and an integrated researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Social Sciences (CICS. NOVA. UAC/CICS. UAc).
He's a member of the Economic and Social Council of the Azores since September 2019 (CESA). He was co-author of the Regional Strategy to Fight Poverty of the Azores, consultant of the first action plan of this strategy and is a member of its scientific committee (2018-2021).
Fernando Diogo was also head of the Poverty, Social Exclusion and Social Policies section of the Portuguese Association of Sociology and member of the working group of the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) on child poverty. He is a member of the COLAB on CHILD POVERTY of the U. do Minho. He was the founder of the Sociology of Childhood Section of the APS.
Within the University of the Azores he was coordinator/director of the research center: Interdisciplinary Center for Social Sciences (CICS. NOVA. UAC/CICS. UAc) (2018-2022), and is director of the Master in Social Policies and Regional Development, as well as the Youth Observatory, since 2022. He was also a member of the Scientific Council and the Strategic Council of this university (2018-2022).
In his scientific research he has been the author of studies and publications on the interception of the areas of poverty, work and employment, especially on the Azores, as well as on youth and its relationship with the world of work and also on job insecurity. It also investigates the issues of child poverty.
