Jeans for Genes day is the day where we wear jeans and denim in order to recognize and celebrate the rare disease community! This day is on Rare Disease Day, so the last day of February, but can also be celebrated at school during Rare Disease Week!
Because rare diseases are most commonly caused by a genetic mutation or variation, aka a difference in your GENES, we recognize this root cause by wearing JEANS!
On Rare Disease Day, make sure you, your friends and family wear jeans as an act of respect and acknowledgement towards the people who are affected by rare diseases. This site is filled with super easy ways for you to inform your community about rare diseases as well as information on how to run your own event, so we recommend that you organize a school-wide Jeans for Genes Day!!!
