The saying “children are our future” is the epitome of what our civilization rests on. Not all children have the luxury to grow up in a healthy stable environment. All of which can have lasting effects as they grow into adulthood. Your Family Home, LLC wants to improve “the wheel” not reinvent it. We’ve found a solution to overcrowded foster homes and the need to split sibling groups due to size or age. We have seen firsthand the damage tearing foster children away from their parents does to children’s mental health. It is worse when they then have to be split from their siblings. Group homes cater to age or gender-specific groups which do not support the need to keep siblings together. Facilities have been known to not have the “family” ambiance but more of a detention center atmosphere. We provide the space of a group home with the family environment of a foster home.
Your Family Home (YFH) is a resource home for foster children and their siblings in state custody. We provide resource care to children from birth to 17 years old for six months to a year. Our team of resource parents has a proven track record of providing quality care, support, and resources to toddlers and school-age children with over 25+ years combined in childcare and education. We prioritize children in Northwest Mississippi but accept children from any state or region. YFH does not discriminate based on gender, race, educational level, and other demographic data. We ensure suitable housing and resources for all children who enter our doors.

Our grounds were designed with children and families in mind. We wanted to embrace the ambiance of love and fun to give our children a reason to smile and be as happy as they possibly can. We can provide children with a study lounge, recreational space, and in-house laundry and housekeeping services. This will give them space and time to focus on what matters most without worry.

Foster care is meant to be a safe respite for children being harmed by their parents. Yet, the assumption among the public and some scholars and practitioners is that placement in foster care is inherently harmful and rarely, if ever, justified (Busso et al., 2019; Franck Meyer, 2019; Raz & Sankaran, 2019). However, the alternative to foster care may be continued abuse, neglect, and traumatization of vulnerable children. Leaving children in homes with caregivers investigated for maltreatment can have dire consequences: a study of all children born in California between 1999 and 2006 found that children who had been the subject of a maltreatment allegation, whether substantiated or not, were 6 times more likely to die from an intentional injury and 2 times more likely to die from an unintentional injury (Putnam-Hornstein, 2011). Your Family Home not only gives children in foster care a safe and structured family environment, we also make a huge push to keep sibling groups together. The trauma foster children go through and the hurdles they have to overcome make life and success harder for them. Our organization wants to make it so that they have one less obstacle taken out of the equation of heartache. That is to keep as many sibling groups together as possible. This provides a little more comfort to an already uncomfortable situation.

Once children are taken into our care we ensure that we provide them with every opportunity to "be a kid". We schedule family outings, vacations, and birthday parties monthly. In addition to these, YFH staff and resource parents also enroll our children in sports and extracurriculars as children express interest or the opportunity presents.

Although we can never fully know what the future holds but we can plan accordingly. YFH is currently a resource home that provides housing for children birth to 17 years old in foster care but plans to expand to offer in-house counseling, early head start, and be a host to afterschool programs such as the Boys and Girls Club or community mentoring groups. Our aspirations are to support the "whole child".
A resource home is a home in which licensed resource parents meet all of the required and necessary needs of children that reside there. This means mental health needs in addition to the children's physical needs. The overall well-being of each child that enters the doors at YFH is a top priority, so creating space and opportunities for our children to connect with family members is a necessity. Time with their biological family provides children with familiarity which aids in stress relief in most cases and supports mental health. Each child has the option to have scheduled family visits on site as approved by their assigned case worker through Child Protective Services (CPS).
