Met Gala 2021

The Met Gala formally known as the Costume institute gala, is an anual fundraising Gala thrown for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. in recent years the met gala has raised over $10 million dollars. The gala is a huge deal in the fashion world and many of the well-known names are in attendance. Last year during a pandemic a large number of celebrities and also influencers/tik tokers (which was very controversial) were in attendance. One of the most spoken about in attendance was Kim Kardashian ( a social media star, reality star and business women) as kims outfit was very different compared to the previous years. Dressed fully in black, even covering her face, by the designer Balenciaga. Many believe that Miss Kardashian wore this outfit at the benefit of Kanye’s new album release, but I will leave you to question that yourself. The 2 influencers in which seemed to cause a huge amount of criticism was tik toker/influencer Addison Rae and tik toker/Influencer Dixie damelio. Many were not pleased as they did not see these influencers as to be ‘famous enough’ for the Met gala, even tho they have million upon millions of followers. The influencers did however look great in attendance and was highly praised by fashion critics. However, Influencer/youtuber Emma chamberlain’s first time at the met gala seemed to have gone great, from interviewing celebrities such as chris jenner and bella Hadid, she did seem to make a great impression. Emma was also praised highly on her custom Lou Vuitton dress.
