Hello, I am Young-ook Jang (장영욱), who joined Korea Institute for International Economic Policy in July 2020. I finished a PhD in Economic History at the London School of Economics and Political Science in February 2019 and was a post-doc research fellow at Stellenbosch University, South Africa in 2019-20.
My main research topic is international migration, with a particular interest in the relationship between migration and labour market conditions. I've also developed an interest in ethnic diversity and its interaction with migration while looking into the movements of ethnic groups during the Soviet and post-Soviet periods. I'm convinced that my research can make a meaningful contribution to one of the most contentious issues of modern society, including immigration and nationalism.
