About the project

Cultural heritage binds Europe together through our common history and values. It also represents the richness and diversity of our cultural traditions. Our shared cultural heritage is to be understood, cherished and celebrated. Yet cultural heritage is not only a legacy from the past. It also helps us forge the way ahead and design our future. The project "Young Journalists Journey – 2nd edition" is an international youth exchange with partners from Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, funded through the Erasmus+ programme. The direct beneficiaries of the project will be 40 young people (5 from each country) and 8 group leaders (1 on each partner). Each national team will be composed of 6 people and in total the group will have 48 people.

The main aim:

8 European Youth organizations aim to create a sharing and reflecting space for 48 youngsters about European cultural heritage and to encourage them to promote it through backpack journalism and digital tools. Journalism is a way of discovering realities and traditions of a country or a community, enabling the dialogue between different generations

During the exchange

48 youngsters will become aware how local and European cultural heritage looks, sounds, taste like, and discover the stories worth written, recorded, photographed using backpack journalism. In national groups they will create each 1 digital map with the “local cultural gems”.

The youth exchange will take place

between 03.04.2022 - 13.04.2022 in the village of Poiana Negrii, near Vatra Dornei, a picturesque mountain resort in the Carpathians of North Romania.

After the mobility

each team will organize local #Heritage InstaMeet in their hometown and launch 1 European awareness campaign “#DiscoverYourRoots” on social media to encourage young people to take action, understand the potential of cultural heritage

We will use non-formal methods

for learning and developing certain abilities and attitudes:

getting to know each other games, ice-breaking games, trust building and team building games, physical exercises and hiking, interactive presentations, group research, generating and visualizing ideas in creative ways, organizing discussions and debates, experiential learning, theater, cultural exchange, analysis, reflection, evaluation and self-evaluation.
