Writing Processes & Adaptation
On this page, I demonstrate how I developed and adapted my writing process throughout the semester. I learned that writing is not a fixed process, but a flexible one that changes depending on the audience, purpose, and constraints of each assignment.
At the beginning of the semester, my writing process was mostly instinctive. I would start writing without much planning, which often made my ideas unclear or poorly organized. However, over time, I developed a more structured process that includes brainstorming, drafting, peer review, and revision. This allowed me to better organize my ideas and communicate more effectively with my audience.
For example, in my Multimodal Literacy Narrative, my first draft focused mainly on telling my personal story without fully considering the reader. I wrote, “Writing became a way for me to express myself and adapt to a new environment” (Younes Boudinar, Multimodal Literacy Narrative). While this idea was important, I realized after feedback that it needed more clarity and development. I then revised my introduction and reorganized my structure to make my message more engaging and easier to understand.
This revision process shows how I adapted my writing based on feedback, audience expectations, and purpose. Instead of only making small corrections, I made deeper changes to improve the clarity and organization of my work. This demonstrates that I understand writing as a recursive process, where revision plays a central role in improving the final product.
Additionally, I adapted my writing process depending on the type of assignment. For example, in my Genre Analysis and Creation project, I spent more time analyzing the genre and its conventions before starting to write. I focused on how different elements, such as tone and structure, influence how a message is received. As I explained in my work, “Understanding the expectations of a genre helped me make better decisions in my writing” (Younes Boudinar, Genre Analysis and Creation). This shows that I adjusted my process to better respond to the constraints of the assignment.
These examples demonstrate that I am able to adapt my writing process depending on context, audience, and purpose. I no longer rely on a single method, but instead choose strategies that best fit each situation. This flexibility has helped me become a more effective and confident writer.
Overall, I learned that effective writing requires planning, reflection, and adaptation. By developing a more intentional writing process, I improved the quality of my work and my ability to meet different expectations. In the future, I will continue to adapt my writing process depending on the context, which will help me succeed in both academic and professional environments.

Boudinar, Younes. Genre Analysis and Creation. ENC 1101, 2026.
This is my first draft of my Multimodal Literacy Narrative. At this stage, my ideas were less organized and I had difficulty clearly explaining my experiences. This draft shows the beginning of my writing process.
This is my final version of my MLN. After revision, I improved my organization, clarity, and explanation of my ideas. I was also able to connect my personal experiences to course concepts more effectively.
This is my final version of my Genre Analysis and Creation. This assignment shows how I adapted my writing process to a more analytical and structured format. It demonstrates that I can adjust my writing depending on the assignment.
