Definitely a group. Mainly palaeo. Not always Yorkshire.
Definitely a group. Mainly palaeo. Not always Yorkshire.
The Yorkshire Palaeo Group is an informal network of researchers interested in palaeoecology and palaeoenvironmental change based in Universities across northern England. Anyone interested in past environments is welcome to attend and there is no registration fee. We meet twice a year, sometimes in person and sometimes virtually.
We will meet next on the afternoon of April 22nd, 2026, hosted by the University of Leeds (hybrid meeting with option for after meeting pub visit!)
You are warmly invited to the next meeting of the Yorkshire Palaeo Group, at the University of Leeds, on Wednesday 22nd April 2026. We will meet in hybrid format, allowing you to attend either in person or online, as you prefer. The meeting will start at 13:00, and depending on how many speakers we have, we will aim to finish by 17:00 (more information here)
As always, YPG is free to attend. But so that we know how many people to expect, we would be grateful if anyone who plans to attend the meeting, either online or in person, could let Paul at Leeds know by completing this short registration form, please (will take you 30 sec).
If you would like to present, please let me have an abstract (up 300 words, but can be as short as you like), which you can submit via the same registration form, above. In the first instance, I would be grateful if speakers could submit abstracts by 1st April, please. Then I will compile and circulate a schedule and an abstract booklet for attendees to browse in advance. Speakers will have 20 minutes to present and take questions.
Any questions please contact Paul Morris (p.j.morris@leeds.ac.uk) or Jane Bunting (m.j.bunting@hull.ac.uk).
Joining the jiscmail (below) is the best way to stay informed, although we will also share all information via other palaeo-relevant mailing lists. In case of any problems with the list, or any questions etc., please email m.j.bunting@hull.ac.uk
You don’t have to be from / based in or talking about sites in Yorkshire!
We now have a JISCMail list for announcements about meetings and (very occasional) other relevant information.
You can join our JISCMail list either by using the mailing list sign up form here:

or by emailing m.j.bunting@hull.ac.uk who can send you an invitation.
