You are warmly invited to the next meeting of the Yorkshire Palaeo Group, at the University of Leeds, on Wednesday 22nd April 2026. We will meet in hybrid format, allowing you to attend either in person or online, as you prefer. The meeting will start at 13:00, and depending on how many speakers we have, we will aim to finish by 17:00.
In person attendance information:
If you wish to attend in person, please meet in Seminar Room 2 in the School of Geography, in the Garstang Building. A campus map is available here www.leeds.ac.uk/downloads/download/9/campus-map-for-visitors
The Garstang Building is near the centre of the map, labelled as building 90. The entrance is from Chancellor's court, close to where the white flower symbol is. Alternatively, you may find it easier to navigate here using WhatThreeWords: the front door is approximately here. Confusingly, the ground floor is called level 7 (don't ask). Seminar Room 2 is one floor up, on level 8. Either take the stairs or the lift up, both of which are on your left as you come through the front door. The seminar room is then along the short corridor, and Paul will make sure it is well signposted on the day.
For many, Leeds is convenient by train. The Garstang Building is a ~20 minute brisk walk up the gentle slope from Leeds City Station. If you are taking a taxi from the station, ask for the bottom of Mount Preston Street (here) and Garstang Building will be in front of you.
If anyone intends to drive, information about parking on campus can be found here, but do let Paul know as he might need to endorse you as a visitor so you can get a better rate.
Online: we will share the online link nearer the time - please register or join the mailing list to make sure you get it!
Registration
As always, YPG is free to attend. But so that we know how many people to expect, we would be grateful if anyone who plans to attend the meeting, either online or in person, could let me know by completing this short registration form, please (will take you 30 sec).
Abstracts
If you would like to present, please let Paul have an abstract (up 300 words, but can be as short as you like), which you can submit via the same registration form, above. In the first instance, we would be grateful if speakers could submit abstracts by 1st April, please. Then we will compile and circulate a schedule and an abstract booklet for attendees to browse in advance. Speakers will have 20 minutes to present and take questions.
Pub visit after the meeting
If you're feeling sociable after the meeting, please join us for a drink in the Victoria Hotel on Great George Street, which is on the way from campus back down towards the station.
