Dr. YONG TANG is an Assistant Professor of Computer Software and Theory at School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE), University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). Meanwhile, he is a researcher at Cyberspace Center of UESTC, and he is also affiliated with Department of Management Science and E-Commerce at School of Economics and Management (SEM), UESTC. He got his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from University of Fribourg, Switzerland. He also has a M.S. in Quantitative Economics and a B.S. in Computer Science both from UESTC. He has years of teaching, research, supervising experience in both business and technology. He has been the PI or co-PI for research projects from Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, National Natural Science Foundation of China, ACM, provincial governments, municipal governments, and industry companies. He has been engaged in interdisciplinary research of information systems, data science, network science, artificial intelligence, optical computing, complexity, and econophysics. His work has appeared in IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, Expert Systems with Applications, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, Information Technology & People, Frontiers in Oncology, Translational Vision Science & Technology, BMC Cancer, BMC Gastroenterology, ACS Omega, Medical Physics, Ophthalmic Research, Complexity, Soft Computing, Entropy, Sustainability, Journal of Information Systems Applied Research, China Finance Review International, Economic Modelling, Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, Journal of Applied Statistics, AIP Advances, and conferences including IEEE Electron Devices Technology & Manufacturing Conference (EDTM), ACM SIGMIS-CPR, Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS), Conference on Information Systems Applied Research (CISAR), International Conference of Electronic Business (ICEB), Appalachian Research in Business Symposium (ARBS), Conference of China Association of Information System (CCNAIS). His research is awarded the prestigious ACM SIGMIS research funding for the academic year of 2018-2019. His paper also wins the Outstanding Paper Award from Emerald in 2021. He is a member of AIS, ACM, and CCF. 

He is also a serial entrepreneur and has founded several companies. Working as founder, CEO, CTO, and other administrative roles, he has gained extensive industrial business, management, technology R&D experience in the past 15 years. His companies focus on Information Technology and E-commerce by developing large scale enterprise systems and solutions for leading clients like China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC, 4th of Fortune Global 500) and government like Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (CDHT), etc. He has hands-on project experience in fields of the petroleum industry, governments, hospitals, grain industry, food supply chains, e-commerce, educations, and media, etc. He also has rich consulting experience for several companies and governments. He currently serves as Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer for a leading company in cloud computing, and Chief Scientist of AI Lab for a public listed company. He is also appointed by a national key software park as a mentor for startups. He is an elected trustee of the Equipment Quality Committee for the Chinese Society of Technology Economics. As an experienced technologist, he is very proud as one of the earliest developers of PACS medical imaging system in DICOM protocol.
