As an interpreter aboard a drillship, Hakurei, commissioned by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Yoshi played a key role in supporting a multinational team conducting geotechnical investigations beneath the seabed around the Ryūkyū Islands. 

He facilitated vital communication between foreign engineers and Japanese geological researchers and crew. With multiple companies and organisations from various countries involved, Yoshi’s work extended beyond interpretation — helping to build mutual trust, cultural understanding, and effective collaboration across diverse working styles.
