The All-Japan Association of Indians (AJAI) was established in late 2017 and officially inaugurated in February 2019. Its motto is simple yet powerful: the welfare of the Indian diaspora in Japan. Inspired by the lessons of the 2011 earthquake, various state-based Indian associations joined hands to create AJAI as a unified platform to support Indians across Japan.
Objectives of AJAI:
Representation & Support: Serve as the central organization representing Indians in Japan, offering guidance on social, visa, legal, educational, medical, and business issues. Recognizing the challenges individuals face—especially in legal matters—AJAI partners with lawyers to provide affordable and reliable legal support.
Health & Crisis Assistance: Collaborate with medical professionals for advice and second opinions. Assist with police issues, court cases, deaths, and funerals, including partnerships with funeral service providers to ensure dignified ceremonies at fair costs.
Coordination with the Indian Embassy & Authorities: Act as a bridge between the community, the Indian Embassy, and the Japanese authorities. AJAI will build a nationwide volunteer network to share accurate information and support during emergencies such as natural disasters.
Collaboration with Regional Communities: Work alongside regional Indian associations, not as a replacement but as a connector, ensuring effective communication and support across Japan. AJAI also explores future services like childcare, job placements, and matrimonial support.
Cultural & Educational Awareness: Promote understanding of Japanese social and business etiquette to reduce cultural frictions and foster harmony with local communities. AJAI also seeks to address broader educational challenges, including improving opportunities for Indian students in Japanese universities.
