A Somatic Journey inspired by the Osseus Path
Three workshops to explore Ashtanga Yoga through a somatic approach—a structured practice linking breath and movement through a progressive sequence of postures.
We will explore the Primary Series one posture at a time, including many foundational asanas commonly practised in Vinyasa Yoga.
Through somatic exploration, discover variations suited to your body, deepen your understanding of each asana and cultivate a more mindful practice.
With time for individual guidance and questions, these sessions support both beginners and experienced practitioners in developing confidence and autonomy.
Open to Ashtanga and Vinyasa practitioners of all levels.
Join one, two or all three workshops!
Session 1 - Finding foundations through the Standing Asanas
We begin by chanting and exploring the meaning of the traditional Opening Mantra, followed by a brief introduction to the history of Ashtanga Yoga and its eight limbs: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi.
Together, we explore the Standing Asanas (postures), one at a time, with curiosity and attention to how different parts of the body organise, connect and support one another. We pay particular attention to the relationship between the feet, pelvis and spine, finding stability without rigidity.
We close with a gentle restorative practice and 15 minutes for questions and shared reflections.
Date & Time: 13 December 2026, 15:00–17:00
Location: Base For Stability, P.C. Borstraat 13, 3515 XW Utrecht

Session 2 - Returning to the body through the Seated Asanas
What does purification mean in Ashtanga Yoga? Why does the sequence traditionally begin on the right side? And how can we adapt the practice to our individual anatomy, physiological differences and changing needs, including hormonal cycles?
After revisiting the Standing Sequence, we explore the Seated Asanas. We slow down to investigate twists, focusing on the relationship between breath and movement. Through individual variations, we learn to recognise our body's signals, release unnecessary effort and respect its natural rhythms.
We gently transition into selected closing postures and finish with 15 minutes for questions and shared reflections.
Date & Time: 24 January 2027, 15:00–17:00

Session 3 - Integration through the Closing Asanas
We begin with a guided practice of the Primary Series up to Navasana, bringing together the movement, breath and awareness cultivated in the previous encounters.
We will then explore the Closing Sequence with accessible inversions using props and individual adaptations. Rather than striving for a particular shape, we discover how breath, balance and coordinated movement can support each posture.
We conclude with the traditional Closing Mantra, a brief reflection on the complementary roles of Mysore-style and led practice, and 15 minutes for questions and shared experiences.
