Kundalini Awakening is an evolutionary process. In a concrete way, the Kundalini unites a human being with the world, the cosmos and everything that is outside of the person. It is an intelligent and conscious spiritual energy. A part of it rises up the spinal chord, starting from within the sacrum bone. It passes through the brain and emerges at the crown of the head or nearby. An external connection is rapidly established and is then gradually strengthened.
Awareness of one's own condition and an understanding of life improves with time. Most people will experience a reduction in some of life's difficulties and develop a feeling of greater wellbeing and satisfaction in their lives. These are things to be experienced and not just believed as being potential or only to be expected in the long term. A form of gentle experimentation and observation is involved. However, nothing complicated or strenuous or mystifying is required.
Quite quickly one may achieve a more relaxed or meditative state. There should be conscious alertness, combined with reduced mental activity. The body generally feels more comfortable. It may become healthier, as assessed from a medical or psychological perspective.
Often the thinking process will stop for a while and that is therapeutic. Meditation is a state without thoughts or with very few, which is to be achieved. Meditation is not an activity to be performed but you may have understood the opposite! Many so-called experts teach or sell 'techniques' of meditation but they are all artificial. They do not live up to the claims of the marketing which goes with them. As Shri Mataji has explained, you are either inside a house or outside of it. You are either in a state of meditation or you are not and you cannot 'do' meditation.

Quotations from Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi
"When the Kundalini rises, a new life process starts in the human awareness, resulting in the growth of spirituality. This spiritual life is a new state into which a human being starts growing, in his innate divinity. This enlightens his physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being."
From Sahaja Yoga Book One.
"It is impossible to explain to people that there is no technique."

"The body of a human being is a temple of God. But this temple has to be enlightened and has to be auspicious. You have to clear and clean your being completely, so it’s a beautiful temple for God to reside."

"You are born not only to be human beings but you have to be superhuman. You have to enjoy yourself. Your life should be enjoyable. It should be blissful. It should not be a curse - morning till evening, worried about this, worried about that."
