Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi
Nirmala Salve was born in 1923, near the centre of India. In her youth, she often spent time with Mahatma Gandhi. As a teenager she joined Gandhi's movement to obtain India's independence from England. Her whole family was involved in these struggles and they underwent much hardship, including arrest and the loss of property. She was forced to give up her college studies in medicine.
Shortly before India achieved its independence in 1947, Nirmala married Chandrika Prasad Srivastava, a high-ranking civil servant, who later served as a Joint Secretary to India's Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri. They had two daughters. After both had grown up, Mrs Srivastava started to spend time lecturing about spiritual matters and giving practical instruction. She travelled extensively and came to be loved by thousands of spiritual seekers around the world. She was regarded by many as a completely divine personality but was frequently opposed by more conventional religious figures, by moneymaking gurus and by the media.
Shri Mataji was twice nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. She declared her own status in 1981, during a public programme in New York, USA. Shri Mataji passed away in 2011.
Quotation
"It's an amazing ever-changing world, full of natural wonders. But there's more to Earth than this, much more. Because our planet is unique in the solar system, perhaps even in the universe."

The Website
Here you can find almost unprecedented knowledge and some practical guidance related to human evolution. What has the greatest value on the site has come from the teachings of Shri Mataji, which she provided in a straightforward but scientific style. There is theory and there is also practice but the practical side is effective and efficient. In some aspects, the results are unique. That is why this website exists.
Human Evolution
For thousands of years mankind has tried to understand life and its purpose, to discover its subtle mechanisms and potentials. Many people with a strong understanding of life, or at least strong opinions or characters, have their histories recorded and they have legacies which are sometimes written, sometimes artistic, sometimes presented as philosophies and sometimes presented as religions.
Their names are well known, such as Lao Tsu, Moses, Buddha, Socrates, Mohammed, Guru Nanak, Jesus Christ and William Blake. More recently in the West there was Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King, Junior. More recently in India, there was Shirdi Sai Baba. Going back thousands of years, in India's history, there were Shri Sita, Shri Rama, Raja Janaka, Shri Radha and Shri Krishna.
In general these established traditions included guidance about how people should behave and about what qualities of life might be enjoyed by an evolved personality. But what was lacking was the practical side. One had to take certain information or advice on trust, hoping or believing that the future would bring the promised rewards. A form of blind faith was required but the future was quite elusive.
One common theme in the traditional knowledge was that a human being can achieve a transformed state and that the achievement of this state should be regarded as a goal. History suggests that some people did achieve a lot but not very many. And the question needs to be considered of whether or not all the reported progress was real.
But much time has passed and, in terms of its understanding of life and its potential to transform, the human race has evolved. In this age, which is called Aquarius by some, there is a great seeking around the world for spiritual growth. It is a time for revelation and deeper awareness. And to meet that need, Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi provided concrete benefits to thousands of people. She also enabled them to pass on her blessings. She used an analogy of a candle which is alight. It can be used to light more candles.
Spiritual Evolution
The highest possible achievement is God Realisation. Only two people reached this state throughout history: Buddha and Mahavira. How to describe it in a few words? Something quite beneficial but the acquired powers do not include omniscience or omnipotence. We may come to know, perceive, interact and serve divine purposes but we cannot become a deity. Nevertheless, there is plenty to enjoy and also some challenges to face.
