동국대(총장 김희옥)가 최근 발표된 한국연구재단이 주관하는 2013년 글로벌박사펠로우십(GPF)에서 일반대학원 융합에너지신소재공학전공 박사과정인 송경세(26)씨가 선정됐다고 밝혔다. 이에 따라 선정자들은 앞으로 정부지원 장학금을 받으며 각각의 연구를 진행하게 되는데, 송경세 씨는 ‘리튬 이차전지용 양극물질의 전기화학특성 개선을 위한 새로운 접근법’에 대해 연구하게 된다. 이번 선정 결과와 관련해 동국대 관계자는 “동국대는 최근 몇 년간 이 사업에서 꾸준히 선정자들을 배출해 연구역량을 인정받고 있으며, 특히 올해는 신설학과인 융합에너지신소재공학과 박사과정 학생이 선정되는 기쁨을 누렸다”면서 “올해 초부터 각 학과 지도교수님들과 학교가 높은 관심을 갖고 지원한 것이 다소나마 좋은 영향을 끼친 것 같다”고 말했다. 한편, 한국연구재단이 시행하는 글로벌박사펠로우십은 세계적 수준의 박사육성지원 사업으로, 국내 대학 박사과정 또는 석박사통합과정 신입생 및 재학생을 대상으로 실시한다. 선정된 학생들은 월 250만원씩 연간 3,000만원을 2년 간 지원받게 되며, 이 후 성과 평가결과에 따라 박사과정의 경우 추가 1년, 석박사 통합과정의 경우 추가 최장 3년까지 지원받을 수 있다.
