CSO: Cold Surge Observation

This campaign aims to observe the modification processes of the air mass

at the head of cold surge, convection development, and severe weather including torrential rainfall.

Intensive sounding at Soekarno-Hatta (CGK) and Pangkal Pinang (PGK) stations: 4 times per day.

The bigger 600 g balloon launch will be conducted to obtain the upper air data higher than 30km at CGK at 06Z.

This campaign is a part of the Years of the Maritime Continent: "YMC" that is a multi-year (Phase 1: 2017-2020, and Phase 2: 2021-) campaign.

This campaign is conducted under the collaboration between the Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics of the Republic of Indonesia, hereinafter referred to as the ”BMKG” and Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology, hereinafter referred to as the ”JAMSTEC."
