1) Have 35 recorded OUTSIDE HOURS
2) Participate in 6 MONTHLY PROJECTS
3) Have UNDER 3 strikes
4) Tutor in the Library for at least 2 Hours per Semester

Getting Hours
You can obtain NHS hours several ways. The most common way of gaining NHS hours is by tutoring. Every day during the time that NHS is an active club (October-April), you can make yourself available as an NHS tutor in the library before and after school or during lunch in the school library. Be sure to log in your hours in the available NHS binder. YOU WILL NEED TO TUTOR AT LEAST TWO HOURS PER SEMESTER
Monthly Projects
Monthly projects are, for the most part, NHS-organized community service ventures. Whether we're caroling for senior citizens or writing letters to soldiers, we want to give our members the chance to serve their communities. This is why we have monthly projects--every month, from October to March, we hold events or ongoing campaigns that members can participate in. If the monthly project is an event (like caroling for senior citizens), then we'll take attendance and give the attendees monthly project credit. If the monthly project is an ongoing campaign throughout the month (like our annual Pennies for Patients), we'll ask participants to raise a required amount of money.
Strikes
Members who earn three strikes during their time in National Honor Society will be kicked out and consequently will be unable to graduate with NHS.
MISSING A MEETING WITHOUT INFORMING US PRIOR IS HALF A STRIKE. We take attendance at every meeting. If you know that you're going to miss a meeting, e-mail us at ylhsnhs@gmail.com OR text our Remind app. If you let us know before the meeting, we won't give you half a strike.
