Research on AI:
to begin my primary research on AI I set up a survey on Google Forms, and asked 5 questions about what players expect to see in AI, what type of AI they like and which games have good AI.
Here are the 5 questions I made. I asked these questions specifically because it allows me to grasp exactly what players are expecting to see in the AI I will create.
For question one I asked how players would like to interact with any AI in games, it seems the most responses I received were to compete and mess with enemy AI for fun.
For question two I asked what players will expect from AI in racing games specifically. I asked this question because it would allow me to produce an AI that does exactly what players expect. The most recurring answer was to make the cars aggressive as well as basic things like driving around the course and braking.
For question three I asked which games have a good AI. I asked this so I can research these games individually too find out how that games AI works. Each AI in each game I got in the responses all work differently.
For question four I asked what people like about AI in games. I asked this because I wanted some extra little details so I can make the AI the best it can be. Some players like the ability to play solo with AI because its enjoyable, some players like a challenge with AI.
For the next question, I asked if players like AI to be challenging or easy. I asked this so I am aware of how difficult I should make the AI. The responses I recieved shows that players generally like it difficult and have more rewards for harder gameplay. Some likes both challenging and easy depending on the game, I will try and create multiple difficulties.
