Nipun Mehta is the founder of ServiceSpace, an incubator of projects that works at the intersection of volunteerism, technology and gift-economy. What started as an experiment with four friends in the Silicon Valley has now grown to a global ecosystem of over 500,000 members that has delivered millions of dollars in service for free. Nipun has received many awards, including the Jefferson Award for Public Service, Wavy Gravy's Humanitarian award, and Dalai Lama's Unsung Hero of Compassion. In 2015, President Barack Obama appointed him to a council on poverty and inequality. Nipun is routinely invited to share his message of "giftivism" to wide ranging audiences, from inner city youth in Memphis to academics in London to international dignitaries at the United Nations; his speech at UPenn commencement in May 2012 was read by millions. He serves on the advisory boards of the Seva Foundation, the Dalai Lama Foundation, and Greater Good Science Center. READ MORE

Zoe Novic is the San Francisco Grassroots Director for the leading international nonprofit organization The Humane League. She is a Bay Area native and received her BA from Brandeis University in 2013. She spent 2 years in West Java, Indonesia, working as a Peace Corps Volunteer. She taught English at a local high school, and established sustainable community development projects surrounding youth empowerment and education about compassion towards all animals. When she returned from Indonesia in 2016, Zoe began working for The Humane League, an organization which has been named one of the most effective animal charities by Animal Charity Evaluators.
Nivisha Jennifer Mehta

Nivisha Jennifer Mehta has more than 15 years of experience in major gift fundraising, grant writing, special event planning and sponsorship, marketing, and program strategy and development for nonprofit organizations such as Alum Rock Counseling Center, El Camino Hospital Foundation, and Silicon Valley Community Foundation. In that time, she has raised more than $6 million and developed expertise in fundraising across diverse ethnic communities in the Bay Area. She chaired National Philanthropy Day twice and became the organization’s president in 2016. Nivisha majored in marketing at Santa Clara University, from which she graduated with a B.S. in Commerce in 1992. She will be speaking on the value of giving back to the community. READ MORE

Pravin Madhani is a serial entrepreneur, executive and investor. He is currently CEO of K2 Cyber Security, which he co-founded in February 2017. Before K2, he was the General Manager of the IC Implementation Division of Mentor Graphics. Prior to Mentor, he was Founder, President, and CEO of Sierra Design Automation. Sierra was a venture-backed startup in the area of deep-submicron place & route tools and was acquired by Mentor in 2007. Prior to Sierra, he was Founder, President, and CEO of Everest Design Automation. Everest designed patented gridless top-level routing technology and was acquired by Synopsys in 1998. Mr. Madhani is an active early stage investor and advises many startups. Mr. Madhani received his Masters in Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India. He is a member of UT Austin ECE Advisory Board and UC Berkeley Cal Parents Board.

"Inspiring a Compassionate World for Farmed Animals: Connecting Community Through Compassion"
Shaleen Shah is an entrepreneur and founder of the farm sanctuary Luvin Arms, based in Boulder, Colorado. With his background in computer programming and entrepreneurialism, Shaleen has created a platform focused on creating a community based on education and compassion by connecting with animals. Luvin' Arms has quickly become an important resource for the local and national communities as it comes to animal welfare.

Tim Huls is an actor, teaching artist and video editor based in the Bay Area. He has trained with American Conservatory Theatre and studied with San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking.
He is also the founder of Planets & Branches, which is a theater company that addresses issues of gender dynamics, sexual assault, and other forms of marginalization.
He really enjoys dancing freely, finding new music, and exploring his current city of San Francisco.

Valeri Bocage started Powerful Women International in 2006 after moving to San Francisco, a move that was prompted by the loss of everything during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Valeri lost everything except her indomitable spirit to help others. Initially, Powerful Women International was formed to help women live their dreams and to begin to support each other worldwide to fulfill their utmost dreams and expand themselves as leaders worldwide.
Inspired by the vision, Pam Terry joined PWI in 2007. The two women began to work together to expand the mission and vision of PWI into several cities around the world with a team of compassionate experts.
In 2012, Valeri recalled her childhood dream of changing the world by positively impacting others’ lives in such a way that it would improve their lives and the lives of the children in their community, creating promising futures for themselves and the children within their communities. READ MORE

Riana Shah is the Co-Founder of the GT Capital Labs, an innovation center that runs an investment innovation center for entrepreneurs in low-income communities in India, and the Founder and CEO of Independent Thought and Social Action International (ITSA), an education reform venture that works with school districts to implement critical thinking and youth-led social entrepreneurship in curricula. ITSA has worked with 20,000 students and teachers across 19 cities and 11 countries, and has received funding from the Davis Projects for Peace Prize, the Eugene Lang Foundation, and Google. Riana's social entrepreneurship work has been featured in the Huffington Post, the Women of Influence Magazine, and Google's Generation In Project. As an entrepreneur and as one of a handful of pioneering Latin American arts and culture producers/directors in San Francisco, Paulo Acosta Cabezas successfully combines cultural philanthropy with social entrepreneurship initiating, facilitating, and executing collaborative endeavors among interested stakeholders. Their shared passion is about melding cultural programs with economic development and empowerment.
Paulo's love for visual arts, international travel, and cultural enrichment began in El Salvador, his birthplace. He left there during a period of prolonged civil war in the 1980s, and as a very young immigrant in San Francisco, became quickly immersed into The City's diverse cultural mileua.

Prem Jain, entrepreneur and CEO of startup Pensando Systems, will deliver the closing address during the 2017 Young Jain Professionals Retreat.
Once described as the "heart" of Cisco, Mr. Jain held various leadership roles at Cisco Systems, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Insieme, building next generation data center solutions with its Software Defined Networking vision with Application Centric Infrastructure.
Mr. Jain served as a Senior Member of the Founding Team at Crescendo Systems and as Senior Technical Advisor at Cisco Systems, Inc. since May 2011. He was the Senior Vice President of the Routing Technology Group at Cisco Systems until July 2005 and Senior Vice President of Server Access Virtualization Business Unit until May 2011. Mr. Jain also served as the Vice President of GM EWAN Business at Cisco Systems.
He is also one of the founders and Past Presidents of JAINA, YJP's parent organization and helped revive YJP many years ago. READ MORE
