We understand that travelling to Korea is expensive for the majority of the usual participants of YGGT.
While we are working on the possibility of finding opportunities to (at least partially) fund travel expenses of (some) participants, we strongly encourage participants to apply for a travel grant from one of their country/region founding body.
In this page, we have collected information about some opportunities.
This is a non-exhaustive list: if you have further suggestions you think we should add, you can email them to yggt2026@gmail.com
Here we list some opportunities to get your travel funded:
EMS (European Mathematical Society) (European researchers)
Individual travel grants for qualified mathematicians working in Europe and without adequate financial support (in particular early career researchers). The limit is usually €900 (for travel outside Europe) or €500 (for travel within Europe).
Next relevant deadline: 31 January (1st round) (decision made in March)
The AMS-Simons Travel Grant program (US based early-career researchers)
Eligible applicants for the 2026–2027 application cycle are early-career mathematicians who are employed full-time by institutions located in the United States and who have completed the PhD (or its equivalent) within the last four years (between April 1, 2022, and June 30, 2026, inclusive). No person may receive an AMS-Simons travel grant more than once.
Applications for the AMS-Simons Travel Grants program will be accepted on MathPrograms.org from February 15, 2026 - March 31, 2026 (11:59 p.m. ET). Applications will be accepted beginning February 15, 2026 through April 14, 2026 (11:59 p.m. ET). Award decision notifications will be made via email in late June 2026. For 2026–2027 awardees, reimbursable expenses may be incurred no earlier than July 1, 2026, and no later than June 30, 2026.
AWM Travel Grants (early-career female researchers)
Enabling women mathematicians to attend conferences in their fields provides them a valuable opportunity to advance their research activities and their visibility in the research community. Having more women attend such meetings also increases the size of the pool from which speakers at subsequent meetings may be drawn and thus addresses the persistent problem of the absence of women speakers at some research conferences. The Mathematics Travel Grants provide full or partial support for travel and subsistence for a meeting or conference in the applicant’s field of specialization.
Next Deadlines: October 1, February 15, and May 15
