And I am not joking when I say that. I am going to tell you what it is that I did less than 1 year ago to improve my writing skills that had immediate results.
First tip: VOCABULARY IS (almost) EVERYTHING
Of course, there are miscellaneous important aspects of text writing. Nonetheless, using academic vocabulary throughout your compositions is indisputably paramount so as to obtain greater marks.
I am absolutely certain that you were in awe for a second after reading the words "miscellaneous", "aspects", "nonetheless", "academic", "throughout", "compositions", "indisputably", "paramount", "obtain", and "marks" in two short sentences.
That is the impression you want to make on the reader of your paper! Therefore, I will leave the links to a complete list of academic words you should attempt to utilize in your next texts below.

Noteworthy disclaimer: You should only do that with this frequency if you are taking an examination or writing a text for a school assignment. DO NOT use numerous academic words in daily situations and DO NOT use them in excess in examinations. Otherwise, your text will become absolutely unintelligible.
Second tip: HAVE SOMEONE (or something) ELSE CHECK YOUR TEXTS
If you have a teacher or a friend who could check your text for you, you can ask them to. Doing that can help you find mistakes you make often and avoid them in the future.
However, there is a better (and easier) way to have your texts checked! Why would you ask a HUMAN to check an essay of yours if you could ask a ROBOT to do so?
Let me introduce you to the website Paper Rater (https://www.paperrater.com/free_paper_grader), which is a website that gives you all the feedback you need. This is as simple as it gets. You copy your essay and paste it there. Then, you select the appropriate options (fear not, for I am going to tell you which ones to select) and let the magic happen.
Look at the image furnished below:
Where it says "Select the education level of this paper's author", you can either select your actual level of education or, in case you are preparing to take a proficiency exam based on the CEFR levels of English, here is my suggestion:
If you wish to achieve a B2 level of English writing, select "10th Grade";
If you wish to achieve a C1 level of English writing, select "11th Grade";
If you wish to achieve a C2 level of English writing, select "12th Grade".
After that, where it says "Select the type of paper you are submitting", choose the first option, which is "Essay".
You can decide whether or not to check the level of plagiarism and, after you have agreed to the terms of service, all you have to do is click on the "Get Report" button.
You will receive feedback regarding:
Plagiarism (optional);
Spelling;
Grammar;
Word choice;
Style (including cohesive devices, sentence length, passive voice, and sentence beginnings);
Usage of Academic Vocabulary (you will do splendidly in this criterion provided that you follow the previous tip).
And finally, you will receive a grade ranging from 1 to 100. As you probably know, Cambridge typically uses these four criteria in order to assess a text in an examination: Content, Communicative Achievement, Organization, and Language. With these, the marks range from 1 to 5. Something you can do, however, is divide your total grade in Paper Rater by 20 to have a rough idea of what your marks could be for that task. Just remember, though, that Paper Rater does NOT evaluate the Content of your essay. Thus, you should ask someone to help you with that single criterion.
For example:
Student X got the total grade in Paper Rater of 90. Since 90 divided by 20 equals 4.5, we can presume that Student X would in all likelihood obtain the scores 4 and 5 in all criteria but Content.
In a nutshell, utilize academic vocabulary to give your text a sophisticated tone and make use of feedback you receive to enhance your text writing skills in English. Doing this will drastically and rapidly do so.
